God 2

I received the following e-mail from a well meaning gentleman who wanted to dig a little deeper into my disbelief in God. Since I've been meaning to write an article on this, I thought that he provided me the perfect opportunity to get off my lazy butt and address the issue. Before you read any further I would suggest that you read my God article first. (The term "God" is used generically on this site, because there are too many names to list for each religion.)

Hey there,

I got a link to your site from that Arnold Prank Calling deal, and it caught my attention, so I looked around on it a lot. First, since it's kind of my area, I looked at your God article. Then I looked around at a lot more of your opinions on stuff.
I admit that I didn't think that I would agree with you on a lot of your stuff because I disagree with you on your stance on God, but a lot of what you said is things that I really go along with (such as your cloning views, celebrity abuse, Afghanistan, and a few more.) Honestly, that shocked me that some one with a lot of curiosity, intellect, and dedication would reject God so quickly. I know that a lot of what you said was sarcasm, and I thought some of it was funny, but I also think a lot of what you said has answers. I don't want to answer all of your questions at once in one email, because I think that would be really goofy and more of a monologue than an actual conversation.
Anyways, what I'd like to do is just listen to a few of your questions at a time and take it slowly, and I would love to answer them. Now, I'm not Catholic, and nor do I agree with a lot of the things that that church practices. Like you said, I don't think people really let "God stop in for a visit" much due to a lot of different factors. So, my opinion will definably be different than the "Christianity" that you've grown up with.
I believe in an all knowing, all powerful, and all good God who is the epitome of love. And although most of his attributes are infinite, I think that a lot of them can be understood by us. You raised a few questions that reach really far back into that deep understanding of God.
Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself and rambling. So, if you would like to have a conversation about this, then please feel free to write me. I'm sure we could challenge each other's current way of thinking.

There may be a higher power. I'm just not comfortable giving it a name. It could be male, it could be female, for all we know it may have fur. Titles are a way of making people feel secure in their beliefs and making their lives simpler by saying they pray to a specific entity. I believe that our lives are planned out for us, I do not believe in coincidence and I believe that a spirit inhabits our bodies and moves on when it has completed its mission here. Our bodies are simply the tool for these spirits to accomplish whatever it is that they have come here for. Good or bad. When the body dies the spirit moves on to its next mission.

I believe in the spirit world. It is not run by just one entity, in fact I believe that each spirit has its own mission to accomplish. When it finishes that mission, it "retires" to the spirit world and teaches others. I believe in spirit guides, past lives and that everyone has the gift of intuition but does not always realize it or know how to use it. I think that some people are truly "psychic" (I'm not completely comfortable with that term) and some are not, but use it to scam others. Some people know they are intuitional and don't abuse it. Some people are very in tune with their own minds, personality and intellect and do not need the added security of praying to something or someone. I do not pray. My decisions are based on my intuition and it has yet to prove me wrong. My spirit is here for a reason. Although I have a general sense of why I am here, I may never truly know what the entire reason is. But I'm sure that I will accomplish it and then move on to do something else.

The spirit world to me is the place of "all love and acceptance". This planet will never reach that level. We are racist, egotistical, selfish, hypocritical and angry people. We claim to all want to be "one", but we act the opposite. There is too much hate and there is not a person around that can bring this entire planet together to love and accept one another. Until we pass over to the spirit world, we all live within our own little sheltered and protected worlds and hope that no one will shatter that facade.

I don't take issue with who or what people believe in. I do take issue with how organized religions practice their beliefs. I do not believe in organized religions. I have yet to see one that only focuses on their shared beliefs and not the profit that they gain from the people they lure in. I am tired of seeing religion used as an excuse for everything from murder to polygamy. I believe that organized religion is one of the biggest scams on the planet. I think that organized religion is a form of brainwashing, stealing and are teaching people to believe in the equivalent of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

People have the absolute right to believe in and pray to whomever they want. I also have the same right to have my own beliefs. Every person is here to accomplish something. No matter how large or small. An infant that dies at birth was here for a reason. That reason may never be known, but it has made its mark in some way. People would understand the purpose behind a person living to be 90. They would be a witness to their accomplishments and failures and see what their mission on this planet was. I also believe that bad spirits are here also. They may be here to rectify their past mistakes, make new mistakes or have even come to resolve past issues with other spirits.

Religion and God will be an issue for debate forever. This is a diverse world, with many cultures and beliefs. None of them are right and none of them are wrong. We do not have to accept or even understand another's beliefs. Stating your opinion is one thing, but forcing your beliefs and issues on others is crossing the line. That is what I do not believe in. I am tired of religious fanatics choking the general public with the Bible and calling the rest of us sinners because we do not follow in their footsteps and donate to their bank accounts. Yes, it is the majority of religions that do this. Yes, it is vile.

I believe in a spirit world because it is something that I have experienced and witnessed. I know I have a gift of intuition and I do have spirit guides that keep me on my predetermined road of life. I do not believe in a heaven or hell. I do believe that the spirits are among us and some of us are aware of this and some of us are not.

Believing in yourself is reality, it's tangible and it is all powering. Faith must lie within yourself first before you can believe in anything or anyone else.
